Not saying your skepticism is unwarranted BUT so much their track record once Warden took control has just been to tell us things they're working on when they're in reality coming that is why we barely understand anything ahead of RuneScape gold time now. We had an identical notion pitched by Mod Ryan one gamejam, within weeks Mod Osborne determined there wasn't enough attention and the idea was dropped out of all of Jagex consciousness. In RS3, there is more interest in skilling updates that bring quicker advancement in the cost of gp, that is why they instead added Aquarium. They're adding a slower way to train structure for the advantage of spending less gp. We're obviously playing the wrong game.
I really don't think the same can be said for much of the community. People today hate the notion of clawing back EXP rates on RS3 - even though a huge part of the achievement of several OSRS upgrades is they have low EXP rates which lead content to be purposeful more frequently. It's very much a can't-have-your-cake-and-eat-it-too circumstance. Many of those flopped day-1-it's-dead content ideas from RS3 would do wonders on OSRS, and a lot of the celebrated holy-shit-this-is-amazing content thoughts from OSRS would be considered junk in RS3. That is in large part due to the simple fact that OSRS is slow progression, and RS3 is rapid progression.
It'd be programming hell, but I've been thinking more and more that Jagex eventually must change to 64 bit integers. There's only so much content it's possible to Old School RS Gold pack into 120 levels. Raising the cap would roughly triple the amount of feasible levels in a skill. RS3 would have fast progression, however, the last goal is much further away. They dont even do a good job filling out 120. Adding even more levels wouldn't work out well.
